29 of 30. Arise and Go

sun rising over all of virginia

it must arise and go, and go

my eyes peeled

fruit in plastic bags at our feet

pillows piled under lady elbows

the wonder of a dream

serenity of road

the lines the lines

the hum of sway onto shoulders

detached from arms

we will make it to Tennessee

and this sleep will swallow me

soon

but not before the visions

that old hunger comes roaring back at

my nape like a swan

there will be no loosening

no hugging shoulders

let the trucks barrel through

let the words flow like women

in feathered glory

the road

the sunrise

all lover
